Win rate is the share of trades closed in profit. But a high win rate does not mean a profitable EA — always read it together with the size of wins vs losses (risk-reward).
Win Rate is the share of winning trades among all trades.
Win rate % = winning trades ÷ total trades × 100
Why win rate alone is misleading
- A high win rate can still lose money. "Win small often, lose big rarely" can be wiped out by a single loss even at 90% win rate. Always use risk-reward too.
- A low win rate can be excellent. Trend-following can be profitable at ~40% by letting winners run.
- The gap between "win rate × average win" and "loss rate × average loss" = expectancy ultimately decides profitability.
